Based on a colorful design, this painting presents Picasso’s vision of individuality and the perception of oneself and others. The girl in front of the mirror, as seen by the artist and emphasizing her most salient features, looks at her reflection in the mirror to the right.
The reflected image, in my opinion, represents what the painter believes the model sees when looking at herself. A central element is the reflected face: its color, shape, and marks (tears?). Picasso shows that the girl perceives her feelings and flaws—some real, some imagined, some apparent, some hidden. This was a recurring theme in the art of the early 20th century, and something Picasso may have drawn from Matisse (see the mark on the woman’s face in The Conversation).
Part imagined, part real, the perceived image maintains a continuity with reality. The element that connects the real and reflected girl is the arm that intertwines both images, also found in Matisse’s The Conversation.

“Muchacha frente al espejo” de Pablo Picasso
Basada en un diseño colorido, esta pintura presenta la visión de Picasso sobre la individualidad y la percepción de uno mismo y de los demás. La joven frente al espejo, vista por el artista y resaltando sus características más destacadas, mira su reflejo en el espejo a la derecha.
La imagen reflejada, en mi opinión, representa lo que el pintor cree que la modelo ve al mirarse a sí misma. Un elemento central es el rostro reflejado: su color, forma, manchas (¿lágrimas?). Picasso muestra que la joven percibe sus sentimientos y defectos, algunos reales, otros imaginados, algunos aparentes y otros ocultos. Este es un tema recurrente en el arte de la primera mitad del siglo XX, y algo que Picasso pudo haber tomado de Matisse (véase la mancha en el rostro de la mujer en La conversación).
Parte imaginada, parte real, la imagen percibida tiene continuidad con la realidad. El elemento que une a la joven real y su reflejo es el brazo que se entrelaza con ambas imágenes, algo también presente en La conversación de Matisse.
