This painting refers to the fragility of our family and economic situation when the reality around us changes rapidly. The four children are the painter’s own, who in this 1919 work had just lost their father to the Bolsheviks during the Russian Revolution, an event that radically changed the rules of life in the country.
House of Cards is a painting about this kind of upheaval and how children, while intuitively perceiving reality in their own way, often fail to realize how fragile and temporary their current circumstances are.

Esta pintura alude a la fragilidad de nuestra situación familiar y económica cuando la realidad que nos rodea cambia rápidamente.
